Sophodra is a praying mantis in the pest control business. She runs a business called "Humans-B-Gone!" She is the sole proprietor of the company. She was also the only employee in the company before she hired Rose. She doesn't have a lot of money, so taking on Rose was a big thing for her. Even though she has bad reviews she still gets clients due to the fact that she doesn't have much competition in the pest control and she's cheap. Another thing she does is regularly seduces her clients (mostly lonely househusbands) to continue getting jobs despite wrecking things.

One of the many claims she makes is the fact that she is an "expert" but it's implied multiple times that this claim might be untrue or misleading. Even though she can and does get the job done and has professional knowledge about "gubs," it lacks the professionalism that one would expect from an expert. This includes breaking a lot of furniture and allowing an issue to snowball into a larger issue.

Sophodra's personality is best described as "hidden loner" and "sassy geek." She likes to hide imperfections in herself with her ego and state how "things were planned" even if they weren't. She tries to paint herself in a positive and graceful light. She is known to have emotional breakdowns and have her emotions sway from one end to the other end of the spectrum rapidly.

She uses an array of tactics for her buisness, Including using her backpack and a venus flytrap gun to help catch her prey. It has been confirmed that Sophodra is against vertebraticide (the planned attempt and murder of vertebrates), and would rather catch than kill. Instead, they are either released somewhere they won't disturb anyone or, in the case of humans and some other animals, they are added to her sizable collection of wall terrariums.

It is implied that she has a backstory with Vera through the interactions that are had. It seems like the common emotion between each other is "aggression" and "spite."

Biography

"Birth"

Unlike protocule mantis nymphs, Sophodra did not hatch from an ootheca and as such did not experience a pronymph stage. It is unknown if this procces is specific to Sophodra or common to all Macrovolute matises.

Early life

Not much is talked about her early life, but two things were explained: She was a handful and was always interested in "gubs". She would explain and show these gubs to anyone who was around her and willing to listen.

Starting a Buisness

Again, not much is stated when she started her business, but she is the sole proprietor and worker for her business at this time.

Hired by Ants

She gets hired by the ants to take care of a pest incident, and she wandered into an area that is off limits hunting down hivers that went into a hole. She is successful in capturing most of the hivers before a trap is sprung to capture her. After being restricted for a very short time, Sophodra breaks free and continues to hunt down the Hivers. This gets interrupted by Rose . After explaining what she is doing here and what she is hunting. She explained to Rose about "Fire gubs" are actually humans and got rid of the myth that "Fire gubs don't have brains" with a systematic breakdown starting at the kingdom level and explaining each phylum all the way down to the species level. A trap gets sprung on her and Rose. The end up falling into a pit, she gets trapped under Rose and knocked around a bit before finding where the humans were hiding through scent. After finding the humans, she assembles her flytrap gun and catches them, adding them to her backpack. After grabbing the humans, she finds Vera. After getting out of the trap by tackling a wall down, Sophodra and Vera had a chase scene. After getting knocked down by vera firing a gun into her neck, Vera opened up the pouch and let all of the Hivers free from Sophodra's backpack. As Sophodra was getting up, Vera locked Sophodra in a entangle of roots, leaving Sophodra distressed. After Rose saved her Sophodra offered Rose a job and a place to live.
